The slotted design lets oil drain right off instead of pooling on the food, which I didn't know I needed until now. That thin front lip slides under delicate fillets without tearing them, and it feels sturdy enough to handle a crowded pan of vegetables too.
I've been using this for flipping fried eggs and it slides under them without breaking the yolks, which my old spatula always did. The thin lip is sharp enough to get under crispy edges but doesn't scratch my nonstick pan. Five wide slots drain the grease off nicely too.
